Description
Paint that glows after dark
In daylight, Montana Night Glow looks like a soft, pale paint. In the dark, it comes alive. The paint contains luminescent pigments that store light as energy and release it as a glow when the lights go out. Charge it under a strong light, switch the lights off, and the surface lights up.
It’s made for effects that need to be seen at night: signage, street art, murals, props, decorations, and eye-catching craft projects. Because the pigments are synthetic and carefully developed, the glow is brighter and lasts longer than in older glow paints. The paint is a high-pressure, high-grade nitro-acrylic, so it covers well and sticks to a wide range of surfaces.

Surfaces it works on
Metal, wood, hard plastics, primed canvas, cardboard, and walls. For the best glow, prime the surface first.
How to use
- Prepare the surface so it’s clean, dry, and free of dust and grease.
- For the most intense glow, prime the surface with Montana GOLD Shock White 9100 (or another bright white), and let it dry.
- Shake the can well. Test on a spare surface first.
- Apply thin, even coats, and let each coat dry before adding the next. The glow is strongest with multiple layers.
- Leave to dry. Drying times vary with the surface, temperature, and humidity, and the paint takes about 24 hours to cure fully.
- Charge the painted surface under a strong light, such as bright daylight, a torch, or a UV lamp, for a few minutes.
- Turn off the lights, and view in total darkness to see the glow.
- To make the finish last longer, seal the dry, cured paint with Montana Gloss Varnish.
Tips for better results
- A white base and several thin coats give a much brighter glow than a single coat.
- The glow is strongest right after charging, then fades gradually. Re-charge it under light whenever you want to see it again.
- The more paint you apply, and the stronger the light you charge it with, the longer and brighter the glow.
- View it in complete darkness. Any other light source will wash out the effect.
- Use a fat cap, such as the Montana Level 4 or Level 5, for an even, wide spray that lays down thick coats.
- Work in a well-ventilated area, wear a mask, and protect the surroundings from overspray.
- After use, turn the can upside down and spray briefly until it runs clear, to keep the nozzle from clogging.
- Store the can upright in a cool place, away from heat.
- The glow only shows in total darkness. In daylight, the paint looks like an ordinary pale colour.
- The glow fades over time after charging, and its strength and length vary with the light it received and how thick the paint layer is.
- Night Glow has limited resistance to weather, light, and UV. For outdoor use, seal it with varnish, and expect the effect to wear faster than standard paint.
- Spray paint is a hazardous item. Follow the safety instructions on the can, and wear protective gear.
- Keep out of reach of young children.
