Description
Professional-looking colour at an everyday price
Winsor & Newton Galeria Acrylic is made for artists who want good paint without artist-grade prices. The colours are strong and highly pigmented, with good covering power, so you get vivid results from the first coat. Galeria uses the same pigments as Winsor & Newton’s professional range, or similar ones in a lower concentration, which makes it a natural way to start and an easy step up to artist-grade paint later.
The paint has a smooth, buttery consistency that spreads easily and holds brush strokes, so you can paint flat colour or build textured layers. It dries to a satin finish, and once dry it’s permanent and water-resistant.
A colour for every project
The Galeria range covers the essentials and more: bright primaries, earth tones, deep blues and greens, whites, blacks, and metallic shades. Because the colours mix easily, you can start with a handful and build a full palette over time. If you’re not sure where to begin, a warm and a cool version of each primary, plus Titanium White and a black, will take you a long way.

Tips for better results
- Squeeze out only what you need, and keep the cap on so the rest doesn’t dry out.
- Use a palette or tray, and mist the paint lightly with water to keep it workable while you paint.
- Work in layers, and let each dry before adding the next, for cleaner colour and less muddiness.
- Thin with a little water or an acrylic medium. Too much water weakens the paint film.
- Use synthetic or hog brushes, or a palette knife, depending on how much texture you want.
- Wash brushes with warm water straight after use, since dried acrylic is hard to remove.
- Seal finished work with a suitable varnish for lasting protection.
- Acrylic dries slightly darker than it looks wet, so test on a spare piece first.
- Colours on screen may look slightly different in person.
- Prime or seal glossy and non-porous surfaces such as metal and plastic for the best adhesion.
- Keep out of reach of young children.
