Description
Make it, bake it, keep it
Nara Polymer Clay is a “make and bake” clay. You shape it at your own pace, because it doesn’t dry out while you work, then harden it in a home oven. After baking, it sets completely and holds its shape, so your jewellery, figurines, and charms are ready to wear, display, or give away.
The clay is firm when it comes out of the pack, so knead it for a minute or two until it turns soft and workable. A roller or a pasta machine, kept just for craft use, can speed up conditioning for larger amounts. Once it’s soft, it holds fine detail well, and colours can be blended together to create custom shades.

Baking guide
Bake at about 130°C (265°F) for around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and thickness of your piece. Thin pieces need less time, and thicker ones need more. Place the piece on a baking tray lined with baking paper or a ceramic tile, and let it cool completely in the oven or on the tray before handling. Check the pack for the exact instructions for your batch.
Working tips
- Knead the clay until it’s soft, smooth, and free of cracks before you shape it.
- Wash your hands, and wipe your tools and work surface, between colours so that pigments don’t transfer.
- To blend colours, twist and fold two or more together until the shade is even.
- Keep pieces at an even thickness so they bake evenly.
- Once baked and cool, sand any rough edges, then paint or seal with a suitable varnish for a smooth finish.
- Wrap unused clay in baking paper or cling film and store it in a cool place, away from direct heat and sunlight.
- Polymer clay is for crafts and decoration. It isn’t food-safe, so don’t use it for items that touch food or drink.
- Use your oven carefully and never go above the baking temperature on the pack.
- Keep clay tools and baking trays for craft use only.
- Check the pack for age guidance before using it with young children.
- Soft clay can stain porous surfaces, so protect your work area with baking paper or a craft mat.
