Nara Air Dry Clay

KSh 1,000.00

Air-drying modelling clay that hardens naturally, with no oven or kiln needed. It’s easy to shape, dries to a firm finish, and can be painted once dry. Comes in a 500g pack, which is enough for figurines, crafts, and class projects.

Description

Shape it, leave it, finish it

Nara Air Dry Clay is a simple way to get into modelling. You shape it by hand, leave it to harden in the open air, and you have a solid piece with no kiln, no oven, and no firing schedule to plan around. It’s soft and easy to work, so it suits beginners, and it holds detail well enough for more experienced makers too.

Once the piece is dry, you can sand it smooth, paint it, and seal it with varnish to match your design. The 500g pack gives you enough clay for small sculptures, several craft pieces, or a group activity.

Why you’ll like it

  • Air-drying, so there’s no oven or kiln to use
  • Soft and easy to shape, even for beginners
  • Dries to a firm, solid finish
  • Can be sanded, painted, and varnished once dry
  • A 500g pack that suits both small projects and group sessions
  • A good choice for school, home, and workshop use

Great for

  • Figurines, animals, and characters
  • Bowls, trinket dishes, and small decor pieces
  • Beads, pendants, and charms
  • Model making and craft projects
  • School projects and art classes
  • Family craft sessions and holiday activities
  • Gifts and handmade keepsakes

Working tips

  1. Knead the clay for a moment to warm it and make it smooth and pliable.
  2. To join two pieces, dampen both surfaces slightly and press them together firmly. Smooth the joint with a little water.
  3. Keep walls and details at an even thickness, which helps the piece dry evenly and reduces cracking.
  4. Let your piece dry in the open air, away from direct heat and strong sun. Thicker pieces take longer.
  5. Once fully dry, sand any rough spots, then paint with acrylic paint and seal with varnish.
  6. Wrap unused clay tightly in cling film or a sealed bag so it stays soft between sessions.
  • Air-drying clay isn’t food-safe and isn’t meant for items that will hold food or drink.
  • Pieces for outdoor use or damp areas should be sealed with varnish.
  • Air-drying clay can’t be fired in a kiln. For pottery, you need a kiln-fired ceramic clay.
  • Check the pack for age guidance before using it with young children.
