Description
Everything you need to start calligraphy
Calligraphy is easier to enjoy when you don’t have to piece together your kit. This 16-piece Royal & Langnickel set gives you the pens, the nibs, the ink, and a case to keep it all together. Open the box, load a cartridge, and start writing.
The set includes ink cartridges for quick, mess-free use, and a piston filler, so you can also fill a pen from a bottle of ink when you want to try a different colour. Two nibs let you try different line widths, so you can practise both fine and bold strokes.

Getting started
- Insert an ink cartridge into the pen by pressing it firmly onto the nipple until it pierces.
- Hold the pen at a slight angle to the paper, and write with light pressure.
- Start with simple strokes, such as straight lines, curves, and loops, to build control.
- Use smooth paper so the nib glides easily and the ink doesn’t feather.
- To use bottled ink, fill the piston filler and transfer ink into an empty cartridge or use it as your cartridge.
- To change a nib, pull out the old nib gently and push the new one in place.
- Keep a few spare cartridges handy so you don’t run dry mid-project.
Care tips
- Replace the cap after use to keep the nib from drying out.
- Rinse the nib in clean water when you change colours or finish a session, and dry it gently.
- Store the pens flat in the case, away from heat and direct sunlight.
- Remove the cartridge if you won’t use the pen for a long time.
- The ink in the cartridges is made for the pens in this set. Don’t use waterproof or pigment inks in the pens unless the packaging says it’s safe.
- Smooth, good-quality paper gives the best results. Thin or rough paper can make the ink bleed.
- Keep out of reach of young children.
