Description
Fifteen brushes, ready for any acrylic technique
Acrylic painting asks a lot of a brush. It needs a point for detail, an edge for clean lines, and a belly that holds paint for broad coverage. This 15-piece Royal & Langnickel set covers those jobs, so you can start a painting without buying brushes one by one.
The bristles are gold taklon, a soft synthetic fibre with a medium firmness. It’s springy enough to push thick acrylic around, soft enough for smooth blending, and it springs back into shape after every stroke. The set includes a mix of rounds, flats, and specialty shapes, so you have a tool for most marks.

What each shape does
- Round brushes: Detail, lines, filling small shapes, and general painting.
- Flat and shader brushes: Broad strokes, washes, straight edges, and filling large areas.
- Angular brushes: Neat corners, curved lines, and shaping edges.
- Filbert: Soft-edged strokes and blending.
- Fan: Texture, foliage, grass, and soft blending.
- Liner: Long, thin, even lines and fine detail.
Not sure where to start? Use a medium round for general work and a flat for backgrounds, then add the detail brushes as the painting develops.
Care tips
- Rinse brushes in clean water straight after use. Never let acrylic dry on the bristles.
- Wash gently with mild soap, working from the ferrule to the tip, then rinse in warm water until the water runs clear.
- Reshape the bristles into their original form with your fingers, and let the brushes dry flat or with the bristles pointing up.
- Don’t leave brushes standing on their bristles in water, which can bend the tips.
- Store with the bristles protected, in a pot with the tips up or in a brush roll.
Good to know
- Brush sizes aren’t standard between manufacturers, so the numbers give an idea of size, not an exact measurement.
- Keep strong solvents away unless the packaging says they’re safe.
- Keep out of reach of young children.
