Description
Sculpt, refine, and start over whenever you like
Nara Sculpture Clay is a non-drying modelling clay, so it never hardens in the air. That gives you as much time as you want to build a form, adjust proportions, and refine the details, with no rush and no cracking. If you don’t like how a piece turned out, you reshape it and keep going.
It’s firm enough to hold its shape and sharp detail, and it softens with the warmth of your hands or a little gentle heat, so it’s easy to work. It’s a popular material for character design, animation models, prototypes, and for making the original shapes that moulds are taken from.
Why you’ll like it
- Doesn’t dry out or harden, so there’s no time pressure
- Reusable, so mistakes can be reshaped and the clay used again
- Holds detail well for faces, textures, and fine features
- Softens with warmth, so it’s easy to work
- Good for making original shapes for silicone or rubber moulds
- No firing, baking, or special equipment needed
- A 500g pack that suits small models and practice pieces
Great for
- Character and creature sculpting
- Figurines, busts, and portrait studies

Working tips
- Warm the clay in your hands, or leave it near a gentle heat source, to make it easier to shape.
- Cut a large piece into smaller chunks, which are easier to warm and work.
- Build a simple armature, such as wire or foil, for taller or more detailed pieces.
- Use sculpting tools for fine details, and a little warmth to smooth the surface.
- Keep the clay away from strong heat and direct sun, since it softens and loses its shape.
- Wrap unused clay in cling film or store it in a sealed container to keep it clean and free of dust and fluff.
- This clay never hardens. It’s for models and reusable work, and it can’t be baked or fired into a permanent piece. For permanent pieces, choose an air-drying or kiln-fired clay.
- Because it stays soft, finished pieces should be stored where they won’t be knocked, pressed, or left in the heat.
- Check the pack for age guidance before using it with young children.
